Bringing HOPE with Baths For The Brave

Sharing hope has always been a goal of Expo Home Improvement - that is why we strive to improve the lives we touch… with every project! The highlight of our year is getting to partner with Baths for the Brave each November to renovate a deserving Veteran's Bathroom to thank them for their service. In 2019, we were blessed to renovate the bathroom of Keith and Brenda Murphy - two veterans who served in the U.S. Army in Korea. After returning to the states, Keith was in a serious accident that forced the family to make the difficult decision to amputate his left leg above the knee. Despite the hardships they faced, the family was so full of joy and incredible HOPE!

Life with one leg makes basic tasks more difficult, and while Keith had found ways to maneuver well, for the most part, bathing still proved to be a challenge. For most Baths for the Brave renovations around the country, companies were taking an existing bathtub and turning it into a low-threshold shower so that the Veterans could roll in or easily step in. Keith asked for his renovated bathroom to include a tub and grab bars placed in specific positions so that he could use them to soak or stand. With our customized bath solution, we were able to position safety grab bars exactly where Keith could use them, and the results were beautiful.

Throughout the whole project, Keith and Brenda were so kind and thankful - we were supposed to be bringing them to hope through a new bathroom, but they brought our team more hope than we could have ever imagined. It was truly our pleasure to serve Keith and Brenda and meet many of their friends at our reveal party. Bringing stories of hope like these to our community is what Expo Home Improvement & Window Expo strives for. Watch the video below for more of their story, and to see the before and after of their bathroom!
