Payroll Specialist

Carrolton, TX

Summary:

Primary Responsibilities:

· Payroll Processing: Process and administer weekly / biweekly payroll for employees accurately and on time, including calculations of hours worked, deductions, bonuses, and commissions.

· Compliance: Stay up to date with federal and state payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance in all payroll processes.

· Record Keeping: Maintain accurate payroll records, including employee information, timesheets, and tax information.

· Benefits Administration: Audit employee benefits within internal HRIS systems for accuracy, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other deductions.

· Payroll Auditing: Conduct regular audits to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies and errors.

· Communication: Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll-related matters and provide excellent customer service.

Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve payroll processes and systems for greater efficiency and accuracy. 

Job Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll software and systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks).
  • Experience in GL Coding of payroll into our accounting software’s. 
  • Excellent understanding of federal and state payroll regulations and tax laws.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft teams and other relevant software.
  • Familiarity with Paylocity and Acumatica.
  • Experience with 1099 and W2 payroll processing. 
  • Experience in benefits management is preferred but not required. 
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus but not required.

Position Summary:
